TruthKit

What happens to your file.

In plain language, because you should be able to read this in two minutes. If anything here stops being true, this page changes first.

Your file

  • Before you press Check this file, it stays on your device. The browser reads its fingerprint and metadata locally.
  • When you press it, the file goes to the engine and is stored privately.
  • Your original file, and overlays drawn on it, are deleted after 7 days. You can delete them sooner with Delete my file now on the result page.
  • The signed report and the verdict card are kept, because they are the record. They hold the file's fingerprint, its size and type, and the measurements, not the file.

Google Gemini

  • WeatherCheck needs something to read the sky and ground in an image, and SynthScan's visual reviewers need to look at the picture. For both, a downscaled copy with its metadata removed goes to Google Gemini.
  • Gemini's free tier may have its content reviewed by Google. Do not check anything private.
  • The short explanation on a result may also be written by Gemini, from the measurements only. It receives numbers, not your file, for that step.
  • If Gemini is not set up on a server, a local reader is used instead, and the result says so.

Who else processes data

  • Supabase hosts the database and stored files, and handles sign-in if you make an account for API keys.
  • Modal runs the engine that does the measuring.
  • Vercel hosts this website.
  • Open-Meteo receives the place and date of a claim to look up the weather and find places. It never receives your file.

Sharing

  • A result is private until you press Share. Without that, only the browser that ran the check can open it.
  • A shared page shows the place rounded to the city. It never shows your original file or its name, and overlays only if you opt in.
  • You can stop sharing at any time, and the link stops working.

Tracking

  • No analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
  • Your IP address is stored only as a keyed hash, used to enforce the free limit. It cannot be read back into an address.
  • This browser keeps your result's private access key, and your theme choice, on your own device.

Live pulse

  • The live pulse page reads your camera in your browser only. No video leaves your device.
